The Watts Education Equity Initiative (WEEI) is a comprehensive program designed to address the educational disparities faced by children and families in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles. This initiative focuses on enhancing practical literacy skills, mathematics, life skills, and creative expression to foster holistic development and ensure equitable opportunities for the community's African-American and Latinx youth.

Watts' Medianhousehold income is approximately $37,000 per year (The median for Los Angeles is $62,000 per year). Watts' unemployment rate is 12%, double the national average. Over 60% of Watts' residents live in poverty.
EDUCATION
Watts' high schoolgraduation rate is 60%. Approximately 50% of Watts' Adults lack basic literacy skills. Less than 25% of Watts' Youth and Adults are proficient in Math.
